If you are sourcing decorative lights in Thailand, you may come across three common terms: string lights, loop lights, and crab lights. Although they may look similar, each type has a different wire structure and creates a different lighting effect..

- Warm and festive atmosphere – Great for restaurants, weddings, cafés, gardens, and camping.
- Wide light distribution – The bulbs give light from different points, making them ideal for hanging or draping.
Best for :
- Trees and gardens
- Restaurants and cafés
- Hotels and resorts
- Events and seasonal decorations
3. Crab Light

A ready-made electrical cable with bulb sockets placed at regular intervals. You can screw bulbs, such as round LED or ping-pong bulbs, into the sockets.
It is sometimes called “Crab Light” because the socket or cable clips look similar to a crab’s claws.
Main Features:
- Strong and durable – Uses a thicker cable and can support higher-power bulbs. Multiple lengths can also be connected together.
- Water-resistant – The sockets are made with thick rubber or plastic, making them suitable for outdoor use.
- Even spacing – The bulb sockets are already attached to the cable at fixed distances, such as every 30 cm, 50 cm, or 1 meter.
Best for :
- Outdoor decoration
- Restaurants / Cafés
- Gardens
- Events
- Building decoration
In short, choose string lights for general decoration, loop lights when the wire needs to follow a particular shape, and crab lights when you want a denser lighting effect.
